Hi Guys.
Please Please help.
I have had my bike since September 2015, and it has the following on it.
K&N filter, KERKER slip ons, and 32 000km on the clock.
I am used to the bike starting first time in one turn, and the exhaust having a deep throaty "DOEP DOEP" sound. I used to pull off easily without high revving, and when 2-up the same applied. She had such a smooth idle and i never exceeded 2500Rpm while riding.
NOW, one day i was riding, and n parked at a stop-go road works. When i restarted the bike, i immediately became aware of an exhaust-tone change. And the bike NOW needed revs to pull off as it felt like i had overloaded it and it was straining under the weight.
Needless to say, i took it to the HD dealer immediately after driving it very slow and carefully worried i was risking engine damage by riding it.
they had the bike for weeks, and could not find anything wrong. I eventually asked them to do a 32000km service as well to rule out the possibility of sparkplugs etc. and they apparently checked the valve lash as well at this service (to make sure i asked for this)
They gave it back to me and i see the following:
1- the bike swings a lot more before it starts.
2-the idle is rough-ish as it now idles above 1000RPM and every few seconds there is a slight misfire (to me) but this the HD dealer denies and says its normal.
3-the bike has a lot more vibration on the handlebars and frame and seat - i am used to it being as smooth as butter.
4-power still way down
5-pull off is difficult, as i must almost let the clutch slip to ease myself away before i get going.
6- i can hear the exhaust tone is way different - its more a "rrrrr" sound than a "doep doep " sound. ALMOST LIKE THE BIKE IS RUNNING ON 1.75 CYLINDERS) SO NOT A COMPLETE CYLINDER DRIVE-FAILURE.
I am at witts end, the HD dealer tells me that if they cannot read DTC's they cant find the problem.
What do i do?
Has anyone had similar symptoms?
I am not going mad, i know my bike.
its not right!
PLEASE help!!
