Guys and Gals,
I live in Malaysia and ride a 2012 Nightrod Anniversary Edition. Getting parts in Asia can be problematic. I have been considering changing my front sprocket from 30 tooth ( I have the international model) to 28 tooth to get my power lower in the revs and to sort out the flat spots in the powerband in the lower gears.
The Harley shop in Kuala Lumpur is presently having parts ordering issues so I contacted Gerald in Singapore who gave me a very good deal on the 28T sprocket and 151T belt.
Now I realize that this was the set-up on the US version of this bike, but I keep seeing both pros and cons for this conversion.
What I want to ask is your opinion as to if this is a good conversion for my style of riding?
I generally ride highways, but as I live in KL, you must suffer through a certain amount of city riding to get to the highways. Furthermore, I rarely get over 100-110 mph as I simply get blown off the bike and it is not very comfortable. I would like some more low end grunt.
I am 56 years old and don't generally 'ride it like I stole it', but occassionally I do like to surprise the younger guys on their sportbikes while on the highway (as us older guys like to do...).
Has anyone else done this modification? If so, are you happy with it? Did it make a significant difference? Lastly, was it worth it?
All opinions are welcome and appreciated!
