Okay to disassemble calipers in order to paint?

I want to paint my calipers since they are off the bike.

Is it safe to remove the two bolts holding them together in order to paint them, or will I just run into issues? I'm not sure how else to paint them without painting the bolt heads which I don't want to do.

The lacquer based brush-on option isn't viable since I have a custom color I need done.
