Hi
i recently replaced tires on my NRS 08 after buying the bike in June.. Previous stock tires were on the bike since 08 i guess. were dry, hard and grip was ridiculous.
On upgrade i went with stock size at the front and 260 Metz 880XXL at the back. after mounting the pressure was kept at 32PSI Fr and 34PSI R.
Immediately the difference was noticeable. "Wheel Spin" on sudden acceleration was GONE. Ride comfort was good and i was totally impressed.
Recently read on forums and Metz website that PSI should be at least 38 Front and 40 reat and +2 if i am riding 2-up.
We have average to bad roads and no rains so roads are often dry and dusty.
i was going for a 200km ride yesterday so increased pressure to 36F and 38R. Out come was incredible amount of wheelspin. Even at 60 MPH 3rd/4th, when i went king kong on throttle, wheels spun endlessly. Once i sudden braked not too heavy and ABS engaged surprisingly. This made me insecure that tires were not gripping the road at all.
About the bike it is incredibly fast. My local Harley group friends say that its an unusually fast(er) VROD. Its got half shot 2-1 exhaust, hi flow air intake by K&N and tuned with Dynotune Powervision. Some went as far as suggesting that the bike may have a Stage 2 updated engine but it was a pre-owned import and we dont have local expertise or dealers so i wouldnt know how to confirm.
About me: this is my first big bike. i started riding last year on a 1980/90's 400 cc yamaha cruiser. between the two bikes i have done 3000kms+ over the 1+ year and i feel, i am fairly competent as a rider.
what should i do to improve grip and reduce wheelspin?
