I recently bought a 2005 VRSCSE. Great bike, runs well but has one annoying problem. When I was talking to the previous owner about buying it, he told me that occasionally the bike would cut off when slowing or coming to a stop. I experienced it a couple of times in the 2 weeks after I bought it.
It normally happens after the engine has warmed up. As I am coming to a stop or turn, just as I pull the clutch in the engine will cutoff. All electrical stays on, no engine codes are set and the bike will start right back up if I hit the start switch.
Last weekend, I didn't pretty much a full service on the bike. I changed the oil and oil filter, changed the spark plugs, replaced the battery as it was older and a little weak, plus brakes etc. Was hoping that would take care of it but still happens occasionally.
I did some searching and found some threads on the IAT relocation for 2002 models where the symptoms sounded similar. Made me wonder if maybe I should just replace the IAT sensor? I hate to just start replacing parts so thought I would see if you guys had any ideas.
Not really a huge problem. It is just annoying at times. Doesn't happen a lot but it did happen again this morning after my 20 minute ride to work. Temp was around 70 degrees. I rode start and stop thru red lights for last 2 miles or so and as I came up to a right hand turn into the parking lot I pulled in the clutch as I turned and the engine cut off just as the clutch disengaged. Hit start and started right back up.
Bike was dyno tuned with TTS tuner. Has V&H pipes and K&N airfilter.
