Hey all, new to the forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have a 2014 Night Rod that came with the LED tail light stock. I have now installed the GR Customs rear fender with the Knight Riderz LED light bar. My question is, I am getting a constant 6v on the brake wire with nothing hooked up. When I hook up the stock light that voltage goes away and the light works as it should. Is there something in the stock light that uses that voltage up? resistors? Ive checked all of my switches and the wiring seems all good. the problem is that the 6v is enough to trigger the brake light on the Knight Riderz light. I installed a 25W 6Ohm resistor in the circuit and it works ok now, but that resistor gets pretty hot when the brake is applied. does anyone know if that voltage is normal on the 2014 with the stock LED? As I said, when the stock light is hooked up there is no voltage on the brake wire until the brakes are applied. With nothing connected to the tail light plug, there is 6v to the brake wire, and 12v to the running light wire. any help would be awesome. Thanks everyone! I guess I should add that the bike is practically new. only 850mi
