So since I bought my NRS, I have avoided buying an exhaust because there isn't an option I like for sound or aesthetics.
I'm not a fan of the look of any of the double barrel slip-ons, nor their sound. I find they try to make the bike sound like a classic Harley, when that is the furthest thing from what I want the bike to sound like.
Really like the Akro header design and construction, but HATE the stubby muffler design and dislike the sound profile from that goofy little muffler on the from the few I have listened to.... its better than most of the options out there, but still not what I'm after.
One of the biggest influences to the sound of a bike is the design and construction of the mufflers. As far as i'm concerned, a quad-cam, V-Twin water cooled bike should sound like a quad-cam, V-Twin water cooled bike... Not like some old American Iron pushrod V-Twin and certainly not like a 4cyl Sport bike. I'm after a sound closer to a Ducati Diavel like this:

I know it's not a Duke but having heard enough bikes back to back with different exhausts, I know how much the mufflers can alter the sound and volume of any one given bike.
So I was curious if anyone has made a custom exhaust with a set of cans from a sport bike like a Duke. I enjoy the double barrel look of the stock exhaust but it's far to quiet and ridiculously heavy. Considering my penchant for keeping the look of my denim black NRS, clean and understated, I figured a set of Carbon cans would augment the look of my bike like a +1 boob-job on a plainly endowed supermodel! ;) And give me the sound profile with the performance I am after.
I have searched and searched but cannot seem to find any relevant threads on something like this. I'm completely competent to design, fabricate and TIG up a complete exhaust, I am just curious if anyone has already gone down this path.
Any first hand experience would be welcomed!:thumb:
Cheers
