Hello,
I rode my 07 VRSCAW in a veterans group ride. The ride wasn't very well planned out and we had two hours of slow stop and go riding. (So much for police escorted feet up ride, but it was for a good cause) For about 20 to 30 mins of the ride my overheating light was on. I turned the bike off as often as possible. Once we finally got moving a bit faster the light went out. We got to the destination and stayed about an hour. Went to start the bike and it was dead. Nothing came on except for the milage indicator and it flashed. When i turned everything back off the milage still flickered but you could barley see it. I put jumper cables on it and it started right up. Got home ok and the next day it started up and seems normal. Any thoughts on what the problem might be. Is there any way the overheating had anything to do with it?
part II ..... I'm only running with one fan. if they were both working would that have stopped the overheating? The only time i have ever overheated before was two times at Laconia bike week on a hot day in traffic. I had to disconnect one of the fans since it constantly blows a fuse. I read about that problem before and it looks like the whole unit with both fans needs to be replace. Just one fan can not be replaced...correct?
one more thing....could riding as long as i did with the overheat light on have caused any permanent damage? I did have brand new oil in it.
thanks for any help.
