Hey guys - I need your expertise! I have been searching threads and found a couple owners with exactly the same problem but I am unclear on the exact fix. Prob: While riding normally and after bike is good and warm bike looses all power while giving any throttle. The first couple of times it happened I stopped for a light then go to take off bike acted as though it was out of gas but sounded fine at idle. All I could do was wait a 15 - 20 minutes and then would run normal again. It has been getting worse, except after adding octane boost in several tanks seemed good. Stopped adding the octane to see if happened again and problem came right back. Explained to dealer, and I got a new set of plugs WOOHOO! They said it is running fine. I rode about 1.5 hours last sunday got on it a little, leaned pretty good on a corner, gas gauge went to empty (POS gauge does that half the time), then the sputtering started. Ok, the threads that I found here talk about the fuel flange and that there was a recall on earlier models, and some talk about a special tool to remove the flange. I have the repair manual since day one but have not found "fuel flange" in it. It details how to remove gas tank guts but no mention of any special tool. One of the threads mentioned that they replaced the fuel flange and their problem disappeared. I find it hard to believe that Harley would sell all of the tank "guts" for 3 bills so I am unsure of what he replaced exactly. My apologies for the life story, just wanted to get all the info out on a single post. Thanks for any help offered.
