Are all blocks the same in regards to mounts. Otherwise will a 2010 1250 bolt into a 2002 frame?

I just purchased a 16 Night Rod Special. I have the topless mod and Widow Slip Ons and I have purchased a Power Commander 5. I have not had it on the Dyno but I have noticed that after trying several Maps that my pipes are red coming out of the cylinder heads for about 4". Is this common or am I still running lean?

My 2014 Muscle suffered the usual poor performance issues I have read so much about on this forum, having just the basic tune dumped in by the dealer when I bought the bike. The 3k-4k hesitation, the heavy decel popping were becoming quite annoying.
With some instruction from thunderdemon and svFiats performance and mileage tune, the bike is running so much better than it ever has.
The 3-4k issue is all but gone and the decel popping has dropped off immensely.
Thanks to these guys and their willingness to help us less versed in the "tuning" ins and outs.
Next up is fine tuning the beast with myTune and making it even better.

Thanks again guys.....much appreciated!

Gabriel 49304 HiJackers Air Ride

Does anyone know how to get these air shocks mounted on the VRSCDX? The top eye ring seems to be 7/16 ID and the bottom 5/8 ID but the stock shock bolts I believe at 12mm. So the bolt goes through the bottom but will not go through the top. Do you just remove the metal bushing or shave it down?

I think I've read that many independent air ride providers use the Gabriels.

Bolt for spark plug jacket soaked in gas

When I went to change my spark plugs yesterday on my 02 VRSCA the bolt that holds the spark plug jacket down(the long bolt on the rear cylinder) was soaked in gas. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Also, is there a trick to getting this wire connector apart that is above the rear cylinder?

Thank you
Colin

Getting melted fleece jacket off stainless exhaust

Hope someone has a suggestion. Hooked a fleece jacket that was in the road today. Got my foot peg and flapped against my 2 week old gorgeous Akrapovic exhaust on my NRS. Now I have melted poly on my bare stainless steel pipe. Any suggestions on how to get it off without totally jacking up the pipe?

How to install tapered exhaust gasket easily?

Had no idea I would get stuck on this part...
Can I grease them first? Which grease?
Freeze them? Sounds like it would do nearly nothing, but worth a try.

I don't have a 50mm race installer - sounds pricey.

Any suggestions? hard to get those mugs in there.

I have the akro exhaust which has the tapered pipe end.

Contemplating replacing stock air filter...

Hey all,

I don't really NEED to replace my air filter on my 08 VRSCAWA but it's probably going to need to be replaced or cleaned soon. It appears to be a stock filter (the typical paper/gauze with wire mesh behind it and blue seals).

I have read a lot about AMSOIL filters, but cannot find them for the V-RODS anywhere. Apparently K&N are the more accessible and have gotten away from oiled filters. I have also seen a UNI filter that while it looks cool, can't find much info on, and the ones i've found give contradicting info on whether they will fit a 08.

I don't mind spending the money on a filter im going to use and that can help keep the engine healthy. My questions are:

If I go from the stock to a higher quality/air flow filter (such as what i've read the AMSOIL can provide), do I need to tune the bike? It's completely stock as far as I know (I got it used a few months back w/ 24k miles). I dont have the cash right now to buy a tuner, but it's on my list.

I have seen people say they tune just for the high flow filter, and some that say it's not until you go topless or change exhaust that you need to tune.

Also, if I can do either, which filter should I go with? Will there be any gains besides longevity with going away from the stock filter? I've seen posts about 1-2 hp more possibly from a better filter. Worth 30-40 bucks more if that's the case.

Any input would be nice! And if AMSOIL is still a thing for V-ROD air filters, anyone have any ideas of where to get one? EaAM43701 part #

My goal is to get the Power Vision w/ auto tune and then new exhaust and the best filter. Don't think I will ever get to stage 2, and I don't think I need to. I shouldn't be allowed to go too much faster for my own safety ;)

Happy Holidays to all who read!!

steering issue?

Hi Gang! I have an 07 AW and I love my bike. However, about a month ago, I noticed a (for lack of a better term) a stiff point in my steering. From straight ahead to about 15 degrees right or left, there is a stiff point where the steering is noticeably harder to turn. When you start off at a stop light and are turning right or left, the steering is harder and if you turn farther, making a shorter turn, it is back to normal. It does not feel like a binding since is returns to normal as you turn farther or make a shorter turn. I have had it up on the jack stand and cannot feel any stiffness, but when you are on the ground, turning left or right is kind of interesting. Anyone experienced anything like this? Any help would be appreciated!

Adjusting shift linkage 2005 VRSCSE

$

I put reduced reach pegs on my ride and I wanted to get the shift peg further back also. I extended the shift linkage out to 15 1/4" from the original setting of 14 3/4". Now the underside of the shift assembly hits the radiator cover.

What other options do I have to get the shift pegs further aft?

2008 VRSCD Rear Tyre Help

$

Hey People!

Have just picked up a 2008 VRSCD Night Rod with a stock 180 tyre on the rear. I called into a harley store and was told to pop a 240 tyre on, I would be required to change the swing arm and a lot more. I have been reading some posts on this forums and have some riders have done the conversion without changing the swing arm. Can someone confirm.

Cheers, all help is welcome.

What is some of the dumb thing's you have been told about a v-rod

$

I know 98% of people you meet has positive thing's to say and most like the bike but the other' come up with some dumb stuff to say so what is some of the dumb things you have been told ? The one I like was when I went to Port Angles Washington to see the grand kids just got in to the state had to stop for gas when I was filling up Two guy's came over that was standing by there ultra classic's they told me my bike was ok if I wanted just ride around town and it's not good for long trip's if I was ever going to go any where I needed a bike like what they had because what I was on wont make it very far. I think they though I was from there. When they got around to the back of my bike and seen where I was from that was the last of the BS they just said ride safe and walked off.
